in 1757, towards the end of the year, the rebel leader François Mackandal prepares to carry out a mass poisoning of European slave-holders in Saint-Domingue. This is referred to as the Mackandal Rebellion and is seen as an important event in the history leading up to the Haitian Rervolution.

Mackandal was captured and executed in 1758.
