- On May 6 Toussaint Louverture takes Mass with General Cabrera the Commander of the Spanish forces on Hispaniola and then rides out of San Domingo to rejoin France with his 4,000 trained troops.
June
- On June 8 Brigadier General John Whyte, the commandant of the British forces in Saint-Domingue at the time, issues a proclamation on claiming British sovereignty over the colony.
