  • The Battle of Crète-à-Pierrot, in the Artibonite valley, takes place from March 4 to March 24, 1802. The Haitian fighters, although ultimately loosing the battle, caused huge losses among the French troops.

  • General Charles Victor Emmanuel Leclerc dies of yellow-fever on November 1, 1802 on the island of La Tortue, he was the Commander-in-Chief of the French expeditionary force sent by Napoléon Bonaparte to re-establish slavery in Saint-Domingue.
