Cap Français (also Cap François) is one of many formal names that Le Cap, Haiti's second largest city on the northern coast, has held over the years. This name usually refers to the northern Haitian city under french colonial rule up to 1804, since it was renamed after the successful Haitian revolution. The city's formal name now is Cap Haïtien in French and Okap in Kreyòl.
