Jean Baptiste Villatte (aka Jean Louis Villatte) - second-in-command to Comte de Laveaux. At Toussaint Louverture's urging, Laveaux was to find evidence that Villatte committed "corruption on a grand scale and belligerent disloyalty." (Parkinson, p. 100) Villatte, along with André Rigaud and Pierre Pinchinat, engineered Laveaux' capture and imprisonment, though he was released by Toussaint in short order. On Léger Félicité Sonthonax' return to the post of Commissioner in 1796, Villatte was arrested and deported.
