La Dessalinienne (Dessalines Song) is the national anthem of Haiti. It is named in honor of Jean-Jacques Dessalines. The lyrics are by Justin Lhérisson and it was composed by Nicolas Geffrard. Haiti adopted the anthem, as a result of a competition in 1903, on the occassion of Haiti's centennial on January 1, 1904.
