Madame Villevaleix was Léger Félicité Sonthonax' mistress, "a rich widow with several children." (Parkinson, p. 106). The two later married.

One of her sons, Louis Mesmin Seguy Villevaleix, (stepson of Sonthonax) was one of the the Haitian officials who secured the ratification of the independence treaty with France in 1838.
