* I'm still puzzling over how or whether to try to define and categorize the Who's Who list.  Dealing with race is going to be a dodgy issue, and will it, in the end, be useful?  What about separating by nationality or social class?  I can imagine that it would be useful to pull up, say a list of British generals who had something to do with the revolution, but I'm wondering if trying to maintain a meaningful taxonomy will be more trouble than it's worth.  This might be a good issue for the mailing list.

* I added three "Who am I?" boxes to the top of the [[Main Page]] today.  The idea is to begin to highlight human stories which will encourage those not well-versed in Haitian history to stick around and explore.  I'd love some day to have a function which would automatically rotate these for each page visit.  --[[User:Stumax|Stumax]] 15:28, 9 Nov 2004 (PST)

What needs to be done?

Just about everything at this point. Following are my top priorities, so grab a shovel and start digging in! --Stumax 17:27, 24 Nov 2004 (PST)

  • Continue to flesh out the bibliography, especially the book descriptions.
  • I've started a List of Books. I'm trying to compile a complete list of revolution-related material, so any help would be appreciated. (Top priority)
  • Rewrite the biographies. There are too many direct quotes, and many are unfinished. Need help developing Jean_Pierre_Boyer & Alexandre Pétion.
  • Added a Timeline_of_Events_in_Haitian_Revolutionary_History today. Dates need to be checked and events added. --Stumax 18:00, 28 Oct 2004 (PDT)
  • See TLP:Requested Articles for wiki entries to be researched and created.
  • Develop the website list.
  • Need help with taxonomic structure. How should articles be categorized so visitors can find them easily.
  • Develop the Current Events page.
  • Develop Help pages

Development

  • I'm still puzzling over how or whether to try to define and categorize the Who's Who list.
  • I added three "Who am I?" boxes to the top of the Main Page today. The idea is to begin to highlight human stories which will encourage those not well-versed in Haitian history to stick around and explore. I'd love some day to have a function which would automatically rotate these for each page visit. --Stumax 15:28, 9 Nov 2004 (PST)

Furl account

I created a Furl account today to collect online articles listed in the Bibliography pages. The cool thing about Furl is that it saves a copy of the page when you create the bookmark, so if the original site ever goes down, a snapshot can be retrieved.

The Furl account can be viewed here, though there's nothing there that isn't already cataloged on this site.

TO DO: I created a personal account, but I may create a new account specifically for the Wiki, and share the account name and password with wiki admins. Furl snapshots are only visible to the person who created the bookmark. Eventually I'd like to replicate the snapshot function here at TLP, but in the meantime I don't want to be the only person who can retrieve a broken reference. --Stumax 19:42, 16 Sep 2004 (PDT)
