The Garrigus article does not cite any documentary evidence of his service. I have looked in the archives and did not find any evidence that he served in the Chasseurs-Volontaires. He was certainly a militiaman in the north and would have been old enough to serve, and since no complete muster roll of the Chasseurs exists we cannot exclude the possibility that he served. But I have edited the page to show the uncertainty of the evidence for this claim.
