Grande-Rivière-du-Nord (Department: Nord), South of Le Cap, is the birthplace of Jean-Jacques Dessalines (September 20, 1758). It was also the location of Vincent Ogé's headquarters.
Note: Various sources give different birthplaces and/or dates for Jean-Jacques Dessalines.
