WHERE: Gallery 1199 310 W 43rd Street (between 8th &9th) New York, NY 10036

WHEN: Opening reception Tuesday, November 9, 2004 6pm – 8pm Exhibit runs November 9 – December 10, 2004 Gallery hours 10am – 8pm weekdays

The opening reception will feature Haitian folkloric singing and dancing with Carolle Demesmin as well as scenes from the Paul Robeson Theater production of “The Lion in Captivity”, a play about Toussaint Louverture.

There will be additional events featured during this celebration of Haitian culture and creativity:

Friday, November 19, 2004, 6pm – 7pm:
Spoken word night with classic Haitian folktales and modern Haitian poetry with various artists.

Friday, December 3, 6pm – 7pm:
Film night: showing “The Agronomist” by Jonathan Demme

Friday, December 10, 6pm – 9pm
Closing reception with Haitian music and open mike.
