1759 is the birth year of the mulatto leader Louis Jacques Bauvais (died 1799); the British General Thomas Maitland (died 1824), he was the Commander-in-Chief of the British expeditionary force to Saint-Domingue as well as Charles-Humbert-Marie de Vincent (died 1831), the French engineer and friend of Toussaint Louverture.
