Arcahaie

Arcahaie (also L’Arcahaie and L'Arcahaye in old documents) (19°49'N 72°55'W) is an agricultural town in the Departement Ouest (West), on the Gulf of Gonaïves, 32 km (20 miles) NW of Port-au-Prince. Agricultural products of the region include sugarcane, bananas, tobacco and coffee.

The Congress of Arcahaie

The Congress of Arcahaie took place from May 14 to 18, 1803 in this town. It was during this congress that Catherine Flon sew the first red and blue Haitian Flag.
