Toussaint Louverture (aka François Dominique Toussaint Louverture; aka Toussaint Breda) was one of the leading figures of the Haitian Revolution, Toussaint Louverture led his country through a tumultuous uprising, defeated, British, Spanish, and French armies, and lay the groundwork for an independent Black Republic.
