- In 1787 the abolitionist Committee for the Abolition of the Slave Trade (later renamed, the Society for the Abolition of the Slave Trade (is founded in London. Thomas Clarkson, who would later play a role in the Haitian Revolution, was one of it's members.
- In 1787 Saint-Domingue is at the height of it's production. (James)
